The problem with pricing by hand

A custom ring is never one number. It is metal at today's price, one or more stones, the setting labour for each, design time, bench time and finishing, then your markup and VAT. When that lives in a calculator or a spreadsheet, the gold price is typed in by hand and sometimes forgotten, a formula gets copied over, and two people in the same workshop price the same piece differently. The client waits while you work it out, and the quote that goes out may not match the one you meant.

• Live metal prices. Gold, platinum and silver rates are applied to every quote automatically, so you are never pricing off yesterday's number.
• Stone and setting costs. Setting labour is worked out by stone type, setting style and stone size.
• Your own fees. Save your design, making, finishing and plating fees once; they are filled into every new quote, and you can still change them on any single quote.
• One markup, applied the same way every time. Set a markup percentage and VAT, and every quote uses them in the same order.
• Branded PDFs. A clean client quote with your company details. Paid plans also include a workshop PDF with the full cost breakdown.

How a quote is built

1. Choose the metal and enter the weight; the current price is applied.
2. Add stones and the setting style for each.
3. Add design (CAD) time and making.
4. Add finishing, such as polishing or plating.
5. Your markup and VAT are applied.
6. Download the PDF for the client.

You can quote a whole piece, only the design work, or only stones and settings, depending on the job.
